December goal finished for A Lovely Year of Finishes.

I finished my December goal of quilting and binding this quilt for my granddaughters Christmas quilt. I backed it with orange minkee so it is really soft. Hope she likes it.

November goal for A lovely year of finishes.

My goal for November was to get this quilt top pinned and ready to quilt. I hope to complete this by Christmas. I am also pinning a bunch of quilts to do in the new year. Pinning is my least favorite part of quilting so I usually only do it once a year and pin until I use up a whole roll of batting.

September 2014 A Lovely Year of Finishes.

I finished the quilt top for my granddaughter Lexy. This was the goal that I had for September A Lovely Year of Finishes. My great grandson  Devyn, couldn't resist peeking over the top LOL. Lexy picked out the fabrics from my stash and I gave her the choice of patterns that I have been wanting to try. I think it turned out pretty nice. I have picked out some orange Minkee to use as a backing.

September goal for A Lovely tear of finishes

My goal for this month is to create a queen size top for my granddaughter Lexy. She picked out the fabrics and the pattern I have had that celestial fabric in my stash for quite a long time so it will be fun to make something out of it for her.

June 2014 goal for A LOVELY YEAR OF FINISHES

For June I intend to finish one of my Minnesota quilts. See previous post for both of the tops. They both need the final borders and to be quilted and bound. My sister is coming for a few days and I will get her to pick out which one that she wants and then that will be the one I finish.

May 2014 goal complete for A LOVELY YEAR OF FINISHES

These are the two Minnesota quilts that I needed to finish the appliqués. One for me and one for my sister. I still need to finish the borders but that will be next month. They are a little intimidating so I am procrastinating. Not sure which one I like best. What do you think? The appliqués are done with suede and ultra suede so they were a lot easier than I thought they would be.

May 2014 goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes

Several years ago I took a class on how to make this Minnesota Quilt so I decided I should make two, one for me and one for my sister. Well I finished most of the blocks but I still need to finish a few of them that need to have the appliqué finished. So that is going to be my goal this month. It is my sister's 50th anniversary at the end of the month so it seems appropriate that I at least work on her blocks and try to start finishing hers. Hers will have the green borders mine are blue. I also have to plan a graduation party this month for my grandson so I don't want to plan to much.

April 2014 A lovely year of finishes

I finished my April goal which is also my challenge quilt for our Quilt show this summer. This is the first time I used my special wedge ruler and the first time I attached a jeweled appliqué to something. I am happy with the results. I had to use colors starting with my initials CAM. So the colors are corn yellow, aqua and midnight blue.

April 2014 goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes

My goal is to complete this wall hanging for our  quilt show challenge this summer. The Challenge is to create something no bigger than 36 inches using our initials for color choices. My initials are CAM therefore I used Corn Yellow, Aqua and Midnight Blue. We can also choose to use one more color if desired but I don't think I need one.

March 2014 A Lovely Year of Finishes

My Goal for March was to quilt and bind this quilt. It is a reversible quilt because I had way to many tops finished and I wasn't getting them finished. A lovely year of finishes has helped me get caught up.

January goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes 2014

Front of January goal
This is the back
My January goal for ALYOF 2014 was this quilt top and back . It needed to be quilted and bound. I had so many tops I decided to see if I could combine some of them into reversible quilts.  The from side is a combination of all my bow tie UFO blocks. Some of them were quite old.
